Went and saw Ron Sexsmith tonite in the "crazy girl capital" of Tokyo. He came on stage with his semi acoustic and played 2 hours of gloriously melancholic odes to love's lost and wisdom gained. His voice sounded like a warm sea breeze. It was the first time I'd been to "Club Quattro" in Shibuya and was impressed. It's a very intimate venue and the Japanese crowd is so nice to the performer - during a song they clapped time for him the whole way through. Ron said afterwards "Wow....your hands must ache!". It was that sort of vibe throughout the gig - some nice guy with a great voice singing nice songs for a nice audience in a crazy city!
Afterwards we went to TGI Fridays and had American style burgers which filled the gap, then we went and played Ping - Pong. This was another first in Tokyo and I was amazed. We arrived on the fifth floor of some nondescript building to find a huge room packed with people playing Ping - Pong- I never knew it was so popular! There were 20 or so tables, nice sofas, scoreboards, even a food menu in case you got hungry. Which leaves me with today's poem: "There's nothing whatsoever wrong,
With Ping - Pong"
