I remember reading something by a Zen monk about boredom. He said that we should learn to be bored. If I am bored, I should just be bored and not try to escape it - like a lot of Zen quotes, they aim to confuse, ie. If, whenever I'm bored, I just sit and accept it, I'll never do anything. This, I'm sure, isn't what he meant. I think he meant that if I'm constantly racking my brain for ways to entertain myself, my mind will never be still, and a still mind brings peace and insight. So the point is, that the mind must be focused and still, and what you do with it, to a point, is irrelevant. I could say, "yep, I'm bored", then without racking my brain, I could run to a Pachinko parlour. Ahhhh, the beauty of it........
