A sunny day in September
A sunny day in September
Just got back from a nice day at Rikugien Gardens in Komagome. They're a lovely restbite from noise and concrete. I had a walk up the 35m mountain and enjoyed the view from the top, walked around the whole garden through wooded areas, and stopped off at the many view points, which afford nice views of the ponds and lawns. A common occurance in Japan is the, "question a foreigner", time. Sinicism aside, today I met a nice man from Ito, in Shizouka prefecture, who asked if he could ask me a few questions. He later went on to say he owned a Porche- it was at this stage, I began to listen! Only kidding- he was a nice man. It's wierd, his English was perfectly adequate, and yet he didn't have much confidence, which is very common in Japan: their level of expectation is very high. If an Englishman knows a tiny bit of French, he speaks as if he's a linguistic master, without self conciousness. Anyway....have a look at my recently added pictures of the garden, without the nice man- who owns a Porche- from Ito, Shizuoka prefecture.
