Good Morning Kyoto and Nara

Good Morning Kyoto and Nara

Ah, this is the life.
My brother, Ben, arrived Sunday morning, on a German plane with cramped seats.
We took the Skyliner to Nippori and waked through the nice streets to my place. The first two things I remember him saying are: "he he. Look at that small dog!!" and "wow, it's so chilled here. Is it always so calm?". When we got home, we played some games and rested a while then made our way to Ueno through Yanaka and the big park. We had a great walk and in Ueno had our first rotating sushi, which he loved. Our favourite was eel. We looked around the shops and got squashed walking around the busy market streets. After that, we walked to the electric city in Akihabara and played loads of games. Car racing games, Taiko ( drum ) game, shoot 'em up game, and DJing game. It was cool. That evening we rested and I cooked salmon, rice and miso soup. We played some more games.....
Day two began at 12, when my brother regained conciousness!! We made our way to Harajuku and had rotating sushi!!This time our favourite was sweet potato in syrup!!Really sweet. "Best not to think of it as potato", said Ben. We walked to Kiddyland!! After that we walked through the cool "ura" ( back ) streets of Harajuku to Shibuya. In Shibuya we looked around the shops and then met my mate Yoski- everyone's mate Yoski!! After introductions we were off to Pachinko!!!They both lost but thankfully I won two trays of silver balls. This paid for a very nice meal at an Izakaya ( Japanese pub ) where we ate sliced tongue, chicken gristle, steak, radish salad, fried rice and skewed chicken. It was delicious- all paid for with my Pachinko winnings, I must add!! After this , we played ping-pong on the 9th floor of a big building and then played some more games. Yoski and I played a "Manzai" ( comedy double act ) game where you play the part of the straight man in a double act and u have to whack a dummy on the head when he makes stupid jokes, or just nod during the build up to the punch lines. That's really fun!! Also played a funky racing game where u take your picture and this is displayed above your car as u race against each other. Ben had bought a cool whale creature at Kiddyland and this became his picture. It was funny to see the little whale racing around the circuit.....
That's it. Two days of pure Tokyo fun. Really good. Tonite we're off to Kyoto and Nara.
