Our Two Week Ronin Holiday
Our Two Week Ronin Holiday
So, we went to Kyoto by bus. This took us 8 hours and we arrived just as the sun rose over Kyoto. We were fairly tired after the journey but I was excited to see Kyoto again. We searched drearily for a Ryokan to have a nap before taking on the temples, and after 3 hours, we found one- it was very small, dirty, old and more like a guesthouse than a Ryokan but we weren't in the mood for donning Yukatas anyway: all we wanted was a place to stay, and the area ( in Gion, the most downtown area of Kyoto ) was lovely. I slept a good few hours, and then went onto the roof top for a smoke overlooking Kyoto. Below me were perfectly aligned, ornate rooftops and in the distance I could see the low lying mountains that surround Kyoto.
Anyway.....I can't keep this detail up for much longer. I'll write what we got up to in my Kyoto photo album......
Suffice to say, my brother and I had a wonderful time. Plans were pushed aside, new plans undertaken, new sights visited and a fair few miles covered on foot. Batting center, Pachinko, ping pong, Horse Racing game, Black Jack game, arcade games, rotating sushi, shrines, parks, shops, Izakayas, Yaki Niku, Karaoke, Bivying in the mountains, 10 hour train rides, fishing, Zen gardens, temples, rollercoasters, traditional Ryokan, lots of onigiri and omusubi and Yoshinoya, and many videos and N64 Fifa World Cup footy games.......Wow. I can't believe we did so much. Cool. Thanx to my brother for coming and thanx to Japan for accomodating us. We used her like a big game centre..........
