Revolutions and the new Matrix film

Revolutions and the new Matrix film

Yesterday, we watched the final part of the Matrix trilogy, Revolutions. It's so visually overwhelming that it's actually really difficult to 'see' the film. During the endless fighting scenes which make up the bulk of the movie, I found it tiring to decipher the images thrust at me, resulting in a desensitizing effect: there's just too much going on, and even when Neo started flying around the city, I wasn't remotely surprised. It's a bit like a ridiculoulsy fast stage of a shoot 'em up game! I came out thinking, "Oh, how I'd love to watch a simple and moving movie, an old fashioned movie". But then, I suppose, I can. On the story front, it was extremely ambiguous. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't ruin the ending of the film for those of you who haven't seen it, because I don't really know what happened. It's all very well hinting at profound meanings but it's all too vague for me. Maybe I'll watch it again and start trying to work out what it's all about or maybe I'll just leave it.........
From the title of this post, you could be forgiven for thinking another revolution is underway. Well, is not life a revolution of sorts, a battle against our nature and an attempt to transcend it? If it were just me versus me, I'm sure I'd win, but there are so many other things to take care of, each related closely to me but not the heart itself. Or maybe that's the wrong way to look at it. Maybe THAT is the problem.....

time for tea?"
