Solaris and Love

Solaris and Love

I just watched Solaris, a film starring George Clooney. It was a very moody, gentle, subtle film dealing with what lies at the 'heart' of human emotions. The soundtrack was gorgeous; a constant flow of soft melodies. I enjoyed it. Having said all that, Solaris was bobbins really! Although it dealt with issues I'm quite fond of- guilt, longing, regret, reality, dreams- it's main issue was 'romantic' love-which I'm not so fond of. Don't get me wrong; I love things. I love crisps and music and some people and stuff. But all this stuff about 'romantic' love being the only thing worth living for.....(That was maybe the intended tragedy of the film).....Some profess love to be unconditional, but then how come it's stuck to one person? If you love someone unconditionally then in theory, you would love the person no matter who/what they were, so you would have to love everyone at the same time.......And if love isn't unconditional then all it is is a strong like, and that doesn't sound very romantic at all. A "strong like" story. Hmmmm.
