Dogville
A film staring Nicole Kidman and an English actor I forget the name of. A very harsh look at life in a small community which represents just about any place on earth: The small-minded, selfish, bitter, and repressed aspect of human nature. Nicole Kidman's character, Grace, arrives as fugitive in a small town in the middle of the Rocky mountains. At first eyed with suspicion, the townsfolk soon being to exploit Grace's fragile predicament and enslave her in a web of abuse. Being "Grace", Nicole's charater is the queen of acceptence and forgiveness, but for how long can she continue to bear the brunt of the bleaker side of human nature? The film is staged in a mock town, with lines on the stage indicating where houses are, and the word "Dog" where a dog should be etc. This seems to mirror the baseness of the charcters themselves, hardly deserving of a "real" world.
The finale is cool.
